NALC Chief Executive's bulletin
This week NALC wrote a joint letter with the Society of Local Councils Clerks to the sector to commend your efforts but also asking you to stop holding meetings. The new Coronavirus Act includes a measure on local authority meetings but new regulations are now needed before councils are allowed to hold meetings remotely. NALC are pressing for progress on this as a matter of urgency.

NALC Study Tour 2018
A sold out NALC Study Tour at Chippenham Town Council was attended by over 30 delegates, which included government officials. It was the first time the tour was opened up to members outside of the Larger Councils Committee.

Data Protection Bill and GDPR
· NALC's concerns over the impact of the Data Protection Bill and GDPR on local councils were picked up in Parliament last week as well as extensively in the media. Prior to last Monday's Second Reading of the Bill the NALC chairman Cllr Sue Baxter wrote to secretary of state for digital, culture media and sport, Matt Hancock MP and NALC issued a press release.
