Dear Colleagues
You may be aware that with my other hat on I have been canvassing hard to get sanctions introduced into the Code of Conduct so that we can have the security and confidence that bad behaviour by councillors will come with consequences

Gloucestershire County Council seeking to recruit 3 independent person (Code of Conduct complaints)
Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) need to recruit three Independent Persons in May. Their role is to advise Rob Aycliffe (Director of Policy, Performance and Governance) and the Hearings Committee on complaints against Councillors under the Code of Conduct. It's an unpaid role, but it's useful to have people with some understanding of local government and governance issues.

NALC poll shows support for single code of conduct
The majority of town and parish councils support the introduction of a single, mandatory code of conduct, according to a new poll conducted by the National Association of Local Councils' (NALC).The research found 90% of those surveyed support the same code of conduct for all local authorities.
