Larger Councils - training for chairmen

Please see information below from NALC: -

Dear chairman,

We are delighted to invite you to join the first ever training delivered by the Local Government Association for councillors from larger town and parish councils.

As members of your County Association and the National Association of Local Councils, we know that local training will have already given councillors a strong foundation to make the most of their roles. This invitation-only, three day programme provides a unique environment dedicated to helping councillors build on this foundation and develop the additional skills to deliver in the emerging devolution agenda, and overcome challenges associated with sustaining more integrated place-based leadership.

You will have the opportunity to hear from the Local Government Association's prestigious trainers on the most effective leadership strategies, understand your own leadership style, and practice and improve your leadership capabilities.

This programme, the first of its kind, is a pilot and so places are limited to one attendee per council, and attendance from councils with invitation only.

There are two date options, at venues in Horsham or Coventry, please see the enclosed leaflet for more information. The LGA will charge a fee of £250 per attendee and overnight accommodation, all meals and refreshments will be included in this cost.

This is an opportunity to develop your leadership capabilities, build relationships and explore options of sustaining place based leadership and delivering change to your local community.

To secure your place on this programme, please send an email to emilia.platoni@local.gov.uk confirming which of the two date options you would like to attend. Joining instructions, including the full programme and delegate list, will be sent out two weeks or so before the date of the event.

Yours sincerely,

Councillor Ken Browse
Chairman
