WHAT WE OFFER

We regularly ask clerks and councils what training they would like us to provide and we take this into account when setting our programme. In any year, we always include events that cover the basics for clerks and councillors.

We aim to provide succinct and professional training for you at a reasonable cost and in various locations through the year. We also offer tailor-made events in your own parish. Reasonable cost tends to mean that we use village halls rather than ritzy hotels; provide tasty but not extravagant buffet lunches; and session leaders who are very well qualified and experienced, but not household names. Our rates are well below those offered commercially.

We let you know when our partners in the south west are offering appropriate events and may also signpost you to specific courses on specialist subjects offered by other organisations.

Over the years events have been for half days, full days, evenings and weekends, in varying formats such as workshops, seminars, conferences and bespoke packages.

Training in the county was originally promoted by the Gloucestershire Training Partnership which included representatives from district and borough councils, the county council, the Society of Local Council Clerks and GAPTC. This body acts in an advisory capacity now.
